The audience discovered what it's like to be a designer in big firms and work within a system. Their stories weave together experiences from both academic and professional life, offering valuable lessons.

UX Research and Portfolio Talk
Nikita Sarkar & Pratap Kalenahalli

12th December 2023 - 150+ Members in Attendance

Nikita Sarkar and Pratap Kalenahalli, UX Researchers at Google India, took the audience on a walk through their lives. Giving us an understanding of how different decisions on either side led to the careers they now have. Jumping into a day in their life, understanding what’s true and not about Portfolio curation and most importantly seeing the impact you could have as a designer and UX researcher are just some of the things the talk explored. While they spoke of all the things one could do, the point both of them emphasised was that there’s no one right way of doing things - There is no formula.

15th September 2023 - 20 Members in Attendance

This one hour long UX sprint was conducted by the Web team of SIGCHI to identify problems with the current website and quickly ideate and design solutions for them. It introduced the newer members of SIGCHI to some fundamental principles of Human Centred Design, as well as exercises such as HMWs and Crazy 8s which are typical to a design sprint. Participants worked together in groups to quickly wireframe creative additions to the website, including a community board and a job portal.

Design Karkhana

Motion Design Workshop

11th & 12th October 2023 - 35 Members in Attendance

The two day workshop held by our in-house expert Vijay Punia, a DMA (Digital Media Arts) faculty, gave many the kickstart they needed to explore Motion Design more seriously. Attendees got to look at basics of motion using platforms like Adobe Premiere Pro, no matter what their level of comfort with the software. Vijay structured the workshop such that a clean, simple motion was created by attendees at the end of the two days, while still ensuring that each day held a learning of its own. The workshop taught attendees not just the technical nitty gritties of Motion Design but also the logical thinking that goes behind it.

An incredibly informative workshop conducted by Arvind Venkatadri. He introduced us to TRIZ, a Russian problem solving methodology that helps you solve almost any problem using simple tools and techniques.

Thank you Arvind for this workshop and we hope to continue collaborating with you for further initiatives.
